“
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. And the life that I now live in my body, I live by faith, indeed, by the faithfulness of God’s Son, who loved me and gave himself for me.
(Gal 2:20, CEB)

Academy formation and writings
Oscar holds a PhD in New Testament studies. His particular focus of research is how metaphors in the pauline literature shapes narrative and transforms audience.
Writings

A scholarly examination of how metaphorical structures in Ephesians 2:11-22 create a cohesive narrative of Gentile inclusion. Jiménez employs cognitive linguistics to reveal how spatial metaphors chart movement toward divine community through Christ.
Methaphors in the Narrative of Ephesians 2:11-22
Published by: Brill
"Having reviewed your book, I then used it as an example of a church planter doing excellent scholarship, for the opening of Cranmer Hall's church planting theology conference last year!"
– Nicholas Moore, Warden at Durham University, United Kingdom
"With clearly written prose and an elegantly structured argument, this methodologically sophisticated study brings cognitive linguistics to bear on Paul’s string of metaphors in Ephesians 2:11–22."
– John K. Goodrich Moody Bible Institute, USA
"Jiménez presents a strong argument that largely succeeds in its aim to demonstrate the value of cognitive linguistic tools for elucidating the significance of metaphors in New Testament texts. Furthermore, the value and purpose of the specific cluster of metaphors in Eph 2:11–22 is illuminated for the exegete so that they can be seen not merely as illustrations needing to be decoded but as vehicles for structuring the narrative and transforming the audience."
– Lionel J. Windsor, Moore Theological College, Australia

A study of the Apostles' Creed as a distillation of essential Christian doctrine. Jiménez articulates foundational truths that have sustained believers throughout history, providing clarity amidst theological complexity and cultural accommodation.

Knowing the Truths That Define and Sustain Our Faith
For some believers, the great challenge is to live according to the gospel, rather than adapting our understanding of the gospel to our own lifestyle. For those who wish to better understand the fundamental truths of Christianity, each chapter of this book seeks to help readers to comprehend why it is critical to consider the pillars that sustain the Christian faith. The ultimate purpose of this book is to stimulate readers to love God and others.
The Apostles' Creed is universal; it summarises the central truths that followers of Jesus have believed throughout history. It is biblical, but it does not replace Scripture. On the contrary, it offers a faithful exposition of the Apostolic preaching and also serves as a hyperlink that is constantly bringing us back to God's Word. The Apostles' Creed allows the believers, who clearly understand the ABC of the Christian faith, to identify secondary, theological issues, and more importantly, to detect heresy.

A theological examination of human suffering through the book of Job. Jiménez offers a balanced biblical perspective that rejects both simplistic judgmentalism and prosperity gospel teachings, presenting instead a thoughtful engagement with life's most challenging questions.
Aún confío en ti (I still trust in you)

Suffering is interwoven with being human in this world. It could be said to be the universal human experience. No matter what might be our age, gender, race, culture, social class, state of health, wealth or lack of… we all suffer in one way or another. Animals on our planet suffer too. But as far as we can tell, they don’t ask “Why?” in the way that we humans do. It seems to be intrinsic to our humanity that we sense this gaping disconnect between how things are in our world, and how we think they ought to be. Suffering is not just a fact; it is a fact that we somehow see as an evil, a moral offence, something that should not be so. And so we seek explanations and reasons. What has gone wrong? Why does anybody suffer? Do we deserve it? And if suffering is somehow linked to what we deserve, then why do good people suffer, and often suffer far worse than bad people? Where’s the sense in that? Or is there any sense in suffering at all? Or, like the rest of life according to Ecclesiastes, is it all simply meaningless? In this book, we take a closer look at Job's plight, to then look even more closely to the cross and resurrection of Christ.

An accessible yet profound examination of divine attributes and their practical implications. Jiménez connects theological understanding with spiritual formation, demonstrating how God's character both transforms the believer and informs every aspect of Christian living.
Atributos de Dios (Attributes of God)
Published by: Oscar Jiménez
This book offers a fresh perspective on God's attributes, purposefully connecting them with the challenges and issues people face in today's world. The purpose behind writing this book is not for readers to simply gain more knowledge, but to deepen their worship. The more we know God, the more authentically we worship in spirit and truth. As we allow ourselves to be amazed by God's wonders, our faith strengthens, His character forms within us, and we develop an increasing hunger and thirst, like a deer panting for streams of water as though life itself depends on it. What a remarkable virtuous circle this creates!
This book provides practical guidance. After all, knowing God should never be merely an abstract exercise, nor an academic and cumbersome pursuit. God is fundamental to every area of our lives. Or as the Apostle Paul expresses it more eloquently: "In Him we live and move and have our being" (Acts 17:28).

A scholarly guide exploring the vital role of metaphor in biblical revelation and homiletics. Jiménez provides both theoretical frameworks and practical tools for preachers to faithfully interpret and communicate the metaphorical richness woven throughout Scripture.
La predicación y la metáfora (Preaching and methaphor)

"Metaphor is an art of grace, not merely a literary endeavour. God has chosen to reveal Himself through metaphor. The Bible itself is filled with metaphors from beginning to end; however, they pass entirely unnoticed in our preaching. What a gift we receive through this monumental contribution from Oscar Jiménez. After savoring it, our sermons could not remain the same. To preach the metaphors in the Scriptures is to expose the beauty of God's voice."
– Jorge Atiencia. Langham Escuelitas, Latinoamérica
"Bible preachers frequently encounter the challenge of understanding and explaining how biblical authors use metaphors. In 'Preaching and Metaphor', the author comes to our assistance. He masterfully employs metaphors and multiple examples to explain the theoretical framework he introduces in his book. This book is an invaluable resource for those of us who wish to expound metaphors with greater fidelity to their meaning and function within the biblical text."
– Elizabeth Sendek, M.A. Author of the book 'Greek for Sancho'.

A collaborative theological exploration by five Latin American scholars examining Christian denominational diversity through the metaphor of an urban landscape. Using creeds as city boundaries and confessions as neighbourhoods, this work offers scholarly guidance through theological traditions whilst addressing common misconceptions.
La ciudad de Dios (The city of God)
To be published in 2026
The City of God is a collaborative work between 5 Latin American scholars. The book takes the reader on a tour through the city of God. Within the city, various Christian denominations coexist. The creeds—such as the Apostles' Creed, the Nicene Creed, amongst others—establish the general boundaries of this city, defining Christian orthodoxy. Conversely, the particular confessions of each tradition delineate the distinct neighbourhoods within the city. The book seeks to inform and correct certain caricatures that have been created. And for this reason, we shall walk hand in hand with an expert who will take us by the hand and show what is noteworthy and concerning about each neighbourhood.
Contributions

In chapter 5, "Together in Tribulation: Reflections on Peter's understanding of the People of God and modern diaspora communities," Jiménez examines the multidimensional ecclesiology presented in 1 Peter 2:9-10 and its application to immigrant communities.

"To further our understanding of what metaphors are and how they function we read the seminal work of George Lakoff and Mark Johnson, Metaphors We Live By and invited a young pastor and scholar, Dr. Oscar Jiménez, to share with our group about the contributions of cognitive linguistics to biblical studies. He helped us see metaphors as "conceptual mapping[s] that can shape or alter the perception as well as define or solidify identity of the member of a discourse community." We are very grateful for his contribution."

In Chapter Five, "You Are Home!", Jiménez examines family metaphors in Ephesians and their ecclesiological implications for intercultural communities. His scholarly analysis illuminates how Pauline imagery offers theological foundations for unity amidst diversity in contemporary multicultural contexts.
Polyphonic God: Exploring Intercultural Theology, Churches and Justice
Published by: Usha Reifsnider
The UK can be described as a postmodern, secular, multicultural multi-ethnic society and within this context has emerged multicultural churches over the years. But what are the key debates at the heart of multicultural Britain and how do they influence the development of multicultural churches? If the political climate and narrative is that multiculturalism has failed, or needs managing and that migration needs to be controlled because it has not led to a unified British society with British identity and values, have multicultural churches by default failed or do we need to journey towards something radically different? In this book, theologians and practitioners together contend that intercultural churches are significant in multicultural British society, and serve to create a counter cultural kingdom narrative demonstrating how we can find unity in the midst of diversity and how this can enrich the lives of everybody involved.
